Akwa Ibom Heritage Queen Proposes free Culinary Training For Youths – By Grace Bernard
The Akwa Ibom Heritage Queen 2024/2025, Barr. Christiana Ekpo, has presented a proposal for a one month free culinary training on Akwa Ibom cuisines to the management of Akwa Ibom Hotels and Tourism Board.
She made the presentation to the Head of Administration and Supply of the Board, Mr Ekan Afangide, on Friday 10th January at the Conference room of the Board, Ewet housing estate, Uyo.
The training according to her will commence mid-March through April 24th, while grand finale is billed for April 24th at Watbridge hotels and suites, Uyo.
Queen Christiana, an indigene of Nsit Ubium, said the training is one of her pet projects intended to inspire self-reliance and employment.
She said, also the training seeks to preserve the indigenous cuisines of the State by teaching urban-based teens how to cook these meals.
The beauty queen said she is focused on promoting skills and crafts that will preserve the rich cultural heritage of Akwa Ibom State and solicited support of the Board towards the up-coming culinary training.
The Director, Administration and Supply, Mr Ekan Afangideh, lauded the Queen and her team for coming to the Board to present her scorecard and 2025 work plan.
Mr Afangideh said the Board will provide venue for the training and vehicle for logistics, urged the Queen to be focused.
The Deputy Director, Tourism, Mr. Aniekan Inyang, which stating that pageantry is a means of empowering youths to build self-confidence and leadership skills and a launchpad to opportunities in the entertainment industry, implored youths to focus on the positive side of pageantry.
The Director, Model Coach, Prince Edet thanked management of the Board for the pledge to support for the forthcoming event.
The highpoint of the meeting was prayers offered for the up-coming event and for the Board.
Also in the meeting were, Deputy Director Tourism, Mr Aniekan Inyang, SSA to Governor on Hotels, Mrs Imaobong Zoe and Head of PRS, Mr. Peter Ukpong.
